Comma, semicolon and tab delimiters; quoted cells and UTF-8 BOM supported. Use a decimal point and optional comma thousands groups (quote these in comma CSVs). No currency symbols, percentages, negative numbers or decimal commas. Blank optional cells mean unknown. Normalize signed credits into net costs before import.

How this analyzer works
Target stock = daily demand × desired cover. Excess units = max(0, usable units − target stock). Excess inventory cost value = excess units × unit cost. Stock cover = usable units ÷ positive daily demand. Slow-demand flags use your daily-demand threshold; zero demand receives a distinct no-sales flag.

Worked example
500 units at $8 cost and demand of 5/day give 100 days of cover. A 60-day target requires 300 units: 200 excess units have $1,600 inventory cost value. That amount is neither guaranteed savings nor recoverable cash.
Assumptions and limitations
Demand is an average, not a forecast. Zero recent demand does not prove obsolete inventory. Seasonality, committed units, minimum orders, lead times and markdown economics require separate review. Each SKU must occur once; duplicate SKU candidates are flagged for confirmation rather than silently merged.

Your selected target; no universal benchmark is assumed. Normalized column: cover.

Frequently asked questions
Is excess inventory value cash I can recover?
No. It is the recorded cost of units above your target. Selling prices, fees, discounts and demand determine any eventual cash recovery.
How should I choose a cover target?
Choose a target appropriate to replenishment lead time, demand uncertainty and service needs. Use the reorder calculator to explore supply timing alongside this snapshot.
Do I have to share my data or email address?
No. Core results and exports work without an account or email. An enquiry is optional, with a separate unchecked choice to share an aggregate summary. Raw report rows stay local.
